NJGAP is currently set up to process 5-15 Greyhounds per month. On average, we place about 10 dogs per month.Once the Greyhounds reach NJGAP, they are immediately bathed and groomed. They are then scheduled for a visit to the veterinarian.

The visit will usually include, but is not limited to;

  • A complete and thorough physical.
  • Spay or neutering, as needed.
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Heartworm testing
  • Inoculations
  • De-worming medications

The Greyhounds then visit a foster home for a brief period of time. This time is for two primary purposes. Our first goal is to help the Greyhound “learn” about its new found freedom. Next, we want to learn a little about the dog, so that we can match it up to the best possible home.Once adopted, we ask that the new families take their new friend to their veterinarian for suture removal, if needed, a general “introduction”, and the vet’s recommended heartworm medication.

We are selective about the homes that our Greyhounds go to, and try to be extremely careful during the intake and evaluation process, to assure that each of our Greyhounds, and their adopters are the right match.

Please be patient, as this process may take several weeks after the adopter’s initial approval. When a Greyhound reaches NJGAP, it has friends and A HOME FOR LIFE. We are here to answer your questions, and provide you with information and guidance throughout your Greyhound’s life.
