We welcome photos of greyhounds that have been adopted through NJGAP. If you want your favorite pal featured on this page please send along your photos via e-mail to dogs@njgreyhounds.org

Make sure you tell us a little about your grey!

Holly was adopted on January 11, 2003. She has been with us a little over a month and is wonderful. She loves to play with any toy that makes noise, loves to get treats, but most of all she loves to spend her day sleeping on our queen size bed. Holly was 2 years old on October 4th and shares the same birth day as her owner Nick. In the picture Holly is playing with her Valentine's Day present on her bed. Thanks to NJGAP we have a wonderful addition to our family! Natalie and Nick

Ember came to her forever home at the beginning of March and was in Sheila Haven's care after being bounced....and she bounced right into my heart:-) -Tom

I am a volunteer with NJGAP, after my James died when we were ready for another boy I contacted Jennifer and asked for another male. She asked for color, size etc and I said it really didn't matter but that the white dogs were my least favorite. After a very short time I got a call from Nanci saying she had my dog a white with black patches. I had a hard time warming up to him since I was then one of those people that makes me crazy being picky about color. We have had him for a year and as you can see by his picture he is handsome and a real nut. We love him dearly. Sheila

These two pictures are of my baby Andre. He is by far, the best dog I have ever owned. He is about 6 years old. We got him from NJGAP when he was 4. He sleeps about 20 hours per day. The remaining 4 he is either eating, out on a walk, or hangin around being his own goofy self. He is a real people person and loves every bit of attention he can get. He can actually "speak" on command! What a good boy! And you know when he starts whining he either wants to be pet, wants to eat, or wants to go on a walk. He definatley speaks his mind!! He'll tell you what he wants. Well thats about it, hope you enjoy his pictures!
P.S.-Thank you SOOO much NJGAP for bringing this amazing dog into my life. The adoption proscess went quickly and smoothly. You supplied me with all the information I needed in that binder, Along with a collar and leash!! WOW!! Keep up the AMAZING work!!! Best Wishes in 2002 and beyond...keep saving those adorable faces... LOVE ALWAYS... Melissa Jones and Andre!

Rocky was adopted through NJGAP in 1997. This picture was taken within weeks of having him added to our family. His black coat is now speckled with grey hair. He is now 6 years old and commutes to work with me every day.

"Captain", our red-and-white grey, is complaining because the other dogs won't move and make room for him on the couch. On the left is "Vinny" an Italian greyhound houseguest, "Phoebe" a Rotweiler-cross houseguest, and "Skyler" our first greyhound. Both of our hounds came from NJGAP.

Wherever there is a job to be done this dynamic duo, Batman and Robin, aka Harley and Chundo, is there ready to assist. Chundo (Batman) is 6 and Harley (Robin) is 5 and they live with their Great Pyrenees brother and me in toms river, NJ. Harley is quite smart and loves to get into mischief. She understands absolutely everything we say and both Harley and Chundo are therapy dogs and have their CGC. need I say that Halloween is their favorite holiday?

This is a photo of my 8 year old retired racer, Jett. AKA 'Bets on Bartman', he was a Grade A racer and came to live with me 2 years ago. He is fiercely competitive and was retired after he broke a hip socket. Jett is the most laid back and mellow fellow I know and I am honored to be owned by him!

This is Jet Schilling, who was adopted into her forever home on Feb 17, 2000. She is a NJGAP girl. She is relaxing on her deck overlooking Lake Hopatcong!!!

We adopted Boomer in March of 96. Since then he has taught us about unconditional love and we have shown him how good life can be. He is without a doubt Mr. Personality. He is the best thing that ever happened to us!!! - Denise, Frank, Boomer and Sophie

Xena (Ace Rapture) and Roger (Travelin' Rogers). They are the most lovable animals anyone could ever want. Xena enjoys everything. Roger is the most polite dog I've ever had. Offer him a dog biscuit and he takes it out of your hand like he's sneaking up on a rattler, making sure he doesn't touch your fingers with his teeth or mouth. To anyone who may be thinking of getting a dog, please consider adopting a greyhound. By spending just a few minutes with one you'll get to know the personality of the breed as every dog (at least every one I've ever encountered) has the same docile personality. If you have kids this breed is, at the very least, a must consider. If you do adopt one you won't regret it, I promise. - Don Roberts

Sierra is 3 1/2 years old and ran under the name of Memory Doll. She was adopted and named Dolly. Unfortunately, she was returned and became a "special needs" dog. Her foster parents Jeff & Tanya Roberts gave her a loving home until we met. She is my first grey and she is the hit of the development where we live. Her friends both canine and people are numerous. During our walks we usually meet a Maltese, Australian terrier, Biscon Frese, mixed terrier,.Bearded Collie, shepherd mix,Papillion, Poodle, Golden,Pug and a Boxer. They are all her pals as she does a play bow as we meet each. Sierra is very tall for a female measuring 29 inches at the shoulder and weighing 70 lbs. Sierra would like another Grey in the family except there is no extra room in the car as she takes up the entire back seat. Maybe, when we buy a new car we'll get one with three rows of seats. Sierra holds a CGC Certificate and we are currently participating in a dog therapy program at a local assisted living facility. Picture shows Sierra doing what she does best - relaxing! - Jan Werner

Our dog Ashley, adopted from NJGAP in January 1998. These photos were taken last Christmas. Ashley is a dark brindle female, born in October 1995. She is a fabulous, sweet dog and has many fans. She gets along with everyone (dogs and people) and is very fun loving. One picture includes my brother Nick Cofone, his 4 yr old daughter Elizabeth, and our 9 yr. old Jack Russell Terrier, Oliver. Ashley loves Oliver, and likes to imitate whatever he does. So, we now have a greyhound that not only barks, but carefully carries her food from the kitchen to the living room rug a little bit at a time to eat it. The good news is that we have a loud guard dog, and she does not bolt her food, which is a problem with some greys. Oliver is rather aggressive towards other dogs, but he accepted Ashley immediately due to her wonderful nature. They like to run obstacle courses in the house weaving in and out of the furniture. The second picture shows Ashley, again on the coach, in her holiday sweatshirt with her favorite stuffed animal (an elephant). Ashley is quite the fashion hound, and owns quite an assortment of coats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and pajamas. We couldn't be happier with our girl, and when we have more room we'll definitely be adopting another greyhound. - Fran and Chuck Crocco

This is China with Haley Steele. Jen writes that China was adopted from NJGAP on December 8, 1998. He was born in August of 1996. He was their first grey and the reason why they fell in love with the breed. He has since been joined by Dingo who is a special needs dog from TLC in Michigan. Dingo is blind in one eye from a training accident and was born August 22, 1998. The family adopted him when he was 10 months old which makes him extra special.
